I’ve been a part of a few proposals over the last few years, and this was one of the most exciting! Picture it: helicopter tour, waterfall, mountain proposal. Perfection!
Paul and Diana met online through an international dating site (Diana is from Ukraine), and when Paul went to visit her in person he knew she was the one. After a trip to the mountains this spring together, Paul got the idea to propose in the mountains and what better way to do it than a romantic helicopter tour?
So this was the plan. My second shooter Sam and I were set to arrive as just another couple going on the helicopter trip. We’d all hike together to a waterfall with the pilot, and enjoy the beautiful scenery for a while. Paul had a romantic picnic planned. At some point he was going to get her to stand up so that he could propose on one knee. Of course Sam and I felt totally conspicuous and obvious the whole time, trying not to stare but also not wanting to miss the cue! Luckily Diana had no idea and it was a complete surprise.
I could have spent all day photographing these two, and I want to say a HUGE thank you to Paul for including us in his amazing proposal adventure, and of course congratulations on the engagement!!
Our super exciting helicopter tour was courtesy of Icefield Heli Tours.
Here’s a glimpse of the amazing scenery we were treated to on the helicopter trip.
Can you see Sam? Luckily Diana couldn’t.
After he popped the question we could finally come out of hiding!
We were on a tight timeline so we headed back down to the heliport for a few more quick photos. As if the day couldn’t get any better, a gorgeous rainbow was waiting over the lake.
