Today seems like the PERFECT day to share this post! Our neighbours to the south have voted for a president with interesting views on equality, and I’m so happy to live in a country where everyone is equally accepted. In 2016 I was asked to be the official photographer for Edmonton Pride!
To be completely honest, I had never been to the pride parade in Edmonton before, mostly because I’m always at weddings on Saturdays in the summer! And unfortunately my schedule won’t allow me to do it again for 2017, but I had a fabulous time this past summer. In addition to photographing the parade and following events, my team also photographed the awards banquet, I did an editorial shoot, and headshots for the board. I got to meet some truly wonderful people and want to thank my second shooters Krista & Ali for helping me out with this project. Below are a few of my favourite images from working with the Edmonton Pride Festival! The theme of 2016 was ‘Dive Into Pride’!

I’m not going to lie…I was pretty excited to wear a bright shiny safety vest while shooting. It was super hot the day of the parade and so many Edmontonians came out to celebrate! I ran into a few of my couples and quite a few friends.
The family picnic the day following the parade was a ton of fun! I took my kids and met up with friends as well, they had a petting zoo, story tellers, baloon artists, and temporary tattoo artists as well as food and entertainment. It was an awesome way to celebrate equality with our family.
