In the middle of the busy summer, it is nice to have a change and leave the city for a couple of days. Michelle and Rob were married in Jasper. Their Jasper wedding was to be held at Maligne Lake. Many people from Alberta will recall that Jasper had wildfires this summer and the epicentre was the Maligne Lake area. Everyone was evacuated from the site of their wedding a week before it was to happen. The smoke even blanketed the city of Edmonton almost 400 kilometres away!
Michelle and Rob were not going to let that bring them down. They switched the wedding venue to Tekarra Lodge in Jasper. It was a great change of venue. The ceremony was held at the lookout over the junction of the Miette and Athabasca rivers. It rained intermittently all day before and during the ceremony. But with almost half of the guests coming from the UK, nobody was phased by it. As soon as they were married the rain stopped and the day just kept getting more beautiful.
Rob used to work in Jasper for many years. I only discovered the other day that his drinks were getting spiked by his old friends there. For ever beer that he had, there was a secret shot of vodka inside! He didn’t find out until after the wedding!
It was a wonderful wedding and I couldn’t be happier for a couple than I am for Michelle and Rob. Congratulations! Thanks to Krista for making the trip out the mountains with me.
