With the recent news coming out of the USA regarding same-sex marriage, it seems only fitting that on Canada Day Michael took part in Nancy & Laura’s wedding! They are both from Alberta but needed to move to London to meet one another. They are on their way back to England for another wedding, but they held their legal ceremony here in Edmonton.
And, in other news, it was just announced yesterday that same-sex marriage will become legal in the UK as well: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23338279
Canada has been way ahead of the curve on this issue, with the first legal same-sex marriages taking place a decade ago.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again and again. A wedding is a wedding is a wedding. Gay, straight, Hindu, Jewish, Chinese, farm, ballroom, big, small, hometown, destination. We celebrate love in all shapes and sizes, and we are so happy for Nancy & Laura that they found each other and chose Edmonton for their wedding.
Laura & Nancy’s rings are really cool – they are in two separate pieces, and are a map of the coast of Cornwall where they go camping all the time. Such a personal and meaningful design!
Happy Canada Day! There is ‘no stopping’ these two!
