I never thought I would know so much about the agriculture around the Edmonton area just based on photography. When clients want specific photos incorporating cherry blossoms, canola, or wheat fields I can usually guide them on what date range we should book their session for. But…nothing is ever perfect in nature so when Meagan asked for a wheat field, we set the date and I crossed my fingers. The day before I took a lovely drive out into the country and found mostly harvested fields and then the skies parted and lo and behold I found a beautiful wheat field. OK, maybe it wasn’t quite that dramatic, but I was pretty excited.
The day of the session we both had car issues – Meagan and Kirk got stuck in crazy traffic on the way to the shoot (so naturally we sent each other selfies from our cars), and mine refused to start as we switched locations so I left it on the side of the road in the country, and Kirk helped me boost it when we were done. The best part? We were all still smiling. No reason to stress. We made some beautiful images, and had a fun time.
Meagan and Kirk are getting married next summer and it’s sure to be a fantastic Ukrainian party. In the meantime, enjoy their fall engagement photos!
