I was really excited when Chris emailed me with plans for his mountain marriage proposal. I couldn’t wait to spy on Chris and his fiancee-to-be Jess! These two international travelers were on vacation in Lake Louise, and visiting the area for the first time. Having never been there, Chris made an excellent selection of Moraine Lake as the location to propose to Jess. Proposals are one of my favourite things to shoot from an adrenaline perspective – there’s little chance to communicate with the groom and I don’t have control over how and where everyone will stand, or how things will go! For Chris’ proposal in particular, I had to try to somehow communicate to him that I had arrived among the sea of tourists and without him checking his phone every 5 minutes to draw suspicion. He had sent me photos of the two of them and I tried to blend in and find them. I gave him a subtle thumbs up and he started following me along the shoreline to the spot that I had scoped out for him to propose. Luckily Jess didn’t suspect a thing and I was able to hide in the bushes and along the trail and not alert her to what was to happen!
She was so excited, and say yes right away. we took a few moments for some portraits at the edge of Moraine Lake, and they continued on their vacation celebrating their new adventure! I was very excited and honoured to be chosen to be a part of such a special moment, and even more so that we had never met before. Congratulations to Chris & Jess!
I’d love to hear how you proposed to your fiance! I’d especially love to hear from any girls out there who switched things up and proposed to their guy! Leave me a comment below or on Facebook!
