These two had a beautiful romantic wedding at Magrath Mansion here in Edmonton, and it was perfect. I’ve known the bride for years, and several of my past brides and grooms were at their wedding, so for me it felt like a bit of a reunion! The whole group is SO fabulous – they are true friends, and it has been really cool watching them celebrate with each other through weddings and now babies for some!
The inspiration for this wedding was elegant soft romance, and I think they achieved it beautifully. My favourite story from this wedding is not quite what you’d expect though. The bride’s shoes were bugging her the night of the reception, and we were on our way to do portraits before the arriving at the party. Her new husband, knowing exactly how to take care of her, had us stop at a Shoppers Drug Mart to pick up some flats for her so she could be comfortable through the evening. As we were waiting in the alley behind the building, the most delicious light spilled across the street, and we abandoned all plans for a park or ‘pretty’ location to shoot there instead. I love this because of how much he loves her, and also because they trusted me enough to shoot them in a dirty alley and make it beautiful.
You two are absolutely fabulous! And I’ve enjoyed our time spent together in and around the wedding. Congratulations!!
Special thanks to my second shooter Jesse for being generally awesome.
