Better grab some popcorn, folks – this is going to be a big one!
Sheena & Rajat’s was my longest wedding of the year, and easily one of the most luxurious. Until you have been a part of a wedding like this I don’t think you can fully comprehend the amount of planning, organization, construction, scheduling, and emotion that goes into a multi-day cultural wedding. Not only are there more functions and events than a single-day caucasian wedding, there is more EVERYTHING. Every function has food, different jewelry and outfits, different family members and guests, and a different purpose.
After nearly 10 years of photographing all types of weddings, and all types of ‘Indian’ weddings (Sikh, Hindu, Muslim) I have developed a pretty intimate understanding of each event, sometimes even more than some of the guests! I’m so very fortunate to have been given this education, and I truly love being at the epicentre of these vibrant weddings.
Sheena & Rajat’s wedding started off with me doing a tequila shot with the bride’s dad, and I immediately felt like one of the family. Sheena is a gorgeous energetic girl, and Rajat is constantly smiling – mostly whenever he is around Sheena. My favourite moments at this huge wedding are when it was just me and these two (along with my fantastic assistant Christine, and my favourite videography crew from A Love Story). Even though we had a ‘job’ to do, I loved getting to hang out with them in the middle of their wedding. A chance to take a breath! To slow down, and relax. Through it all, they were never stressed out, they just enjoyed everything! They were truly a team – taking care of each other through the process and just completely in love.
I can’t say enough about each and every vendor involved in this wedding. We throw around the word ‘dream team’ a lot, but I can definitely say that with this wedding. I got to work with so many of my favourite people at this wedding!
